Virtual Organizing
All you need to know about Virtual Organizing
There are different ways to work with a professional organizer depending on the type of support you desire. If you’ve ever wondered more about whether virtual organizing is the right fit for you, below are some elements to consider.
Virtual Organizing basics
During a virtual organizing session, you will sign onto a Zoom meeting and Stacy will meet with you virtually to provide in-real-time coaching as you declutter and organize your items together. Organizing sessions typically last from 1-2 hours, depending on the discussed meeting cadence.
Tools you will need:
Good internet connectivity and a device that allows for Zoom meeting access (laptop, iPad or mobile phone). Your device should be transportable, since it will follow you as you move about the home.
Benefits of virtual coaching sessions
You have built-in accountability. You carve out time on your busy calendar to make progress on your organizing goals and projects.
You receive instant feedback and guidance with live coaching. No getting stuck or stopped by feelings of overwhelm.
You are supported with a personalized program of solutions that fit your lifestyle and organizing style for long-lasting systems.
You want more of a DIY experience, but are also looking for guardrails, decision-making strategies, and clear action steps to follow.
In-person organizing vs. virtual organizing
The biggest difference between in-person vs. virtual organizing comes down to how much hands-on support you desire. With in-person organizing, you will have the benefit of an additional pair of hands to help move and arrange items, as well as to help take donations out of the home. This means that the work time is effectively doubled and progress is often quickened.
Similar to in-person organizing, the more you are able to show of your home and how you routinely flow through it, will allow Stacy to suggest better organizing customizations. So, being comfortable on camera (Zoom) as well as being comfortable virtually showing the rest of the home is helpful, too. No matter what type of decluttering session you decide on, it will always be a safe space with no judgment.
Another element to consider is time. In-person organizing requires a longer block of meeting time (4 hours minimum), while virtual organizing is more flexible.
